Biojector® 2000 Needle-free Injectors
The Biojector® has TGA abd FDA clearance for delivering subcutaneous or intramuscular injections of liquid medication, including vaccines and other injected medications.
Because there is no needle, the Biojector® provides healthcare workers with an unparalleled level of protection against accidental needlestick injuries. In high-risk situations, such as delivering injections to patients known to be infected with HIV or Hepatitis, the Biojector® is an ideal injection system.
The Biojector® works by the same principle as all of Bioject's needle-free injection systems: by forcing liquid medication through a tiny orifice that is held against the skin. This creates a very fine, high-pressure stream of medication that penetrates the skin, depositing medication in the tissue beneath.
The system has three components:
-
Durable injection device
The Biojector® 2000 injector is designed with rugged construction for use in professional healthcare settings. Each device is thoroughly tested and rated to deliver over 100,000 injections. The Biojector® was ergonomically designed for right or left handed users.
-
Disposable needle-free syringe
The Biojector® is the first needle-free injector in history to deliver medications from a sterile single-use syringe. This plastic syringe is the only part of the system that comes in contact with the patient's skin. After each injection, the used syringe is discarded and a new one is inserted for the next injection. Because the syringe is needle-free, it does not have to be discarded in a "sharps" container, decreasing the amount of costly, hazardous "sharps" waste.
Intradermal injections are shallow, delivering medication between the layers of the skin. A successful intradermal injection creates a "wheal," or raised bump on the skin.
-
CO2 cartridge
The Biojector® is energized by a small CO2 cartridge. Each CO2 cartridge delivers between 10 and 15 injections with proper technique. Replacing the CO2 cartridge is a simple procedure, described in the Biojector® instruction manual. The CO2 never comes in contact with the medication.
The Biojector® Tank Adapter adds the convenience of a large CO2 tank to the Biojector® 2000 System. For mass immunization programs, such as for military troops, the Tank Adapter offers a major logistical advantage by eliminating the need to replace CO2 cartridges.
